Pluggers United Red

As another holiday season starts to wind down, and as January and 2009 are fast approaching, I thought it would be fun to do a Pluggers United feature, using only red items.

Don't you just love that "Oh CRAP, I forgot to buy Suzie a holiday gift!" feeling? Me too!

I had one of those moments earlier this week. My trip to visit my father and step-mother has been postponed for a few days thanks to the weird and wacky weather we're currently receiving. While I was talking to one of my friends, the realization that I had completely blanked on her when it was time for me to do my gift shopping hit. Luckily for me, my creative juices started flowing at the exact same moment. Awkward moment averted! SUCCESS!

I pulled out a couple of ornament kits and went to work. As the ornaments were being created, the list of recipients was growing rather quickly which only helped to maintain the creative flow.

The creative zone is one that brings me much joy, peace and calm. It's very rare that I will only create one thing in one sitting - I usually end up making two or three different items out of the beads! The past few nights were no exception. Not only did I make the ornaments, the packaging was also created by yours truly!

I enjoyed creating these ornaments so much that I'm already starting to plan workshops around the idea for next year. WOOT!

It's been a crazy couple of days - getting ready for Christmas (I waited until the very last second this year), trying to figure out travel plans and shoveling my car out from under the mounds of snow we've been getting. This hasn't left me with much time to do much else other than relax my sore and tired muscles and sleep, so my poor blog was neglected for a few days.

Last week, four of my items were featured on two different blogs, both run by the same wonderful woman. Check out the post on My Gypsy Goods here, and the post on Altered Events here!

My Gypsy Goods also baconated her blog and took a screen cap. How cute is that?!

Please check out her fabulous shops below:

Sweet Surprise!

Thanks to TiLT Creations' sharp eye, she spotted this photo in Altered Gypsy's flickr stream. dturner19 was kind enough to create a Pluggers United Treasury and she included my Peridot Swarovski Crystal Butterfly and Flower earrings! Thanks to TiLT Creations, Altered Gypsy, and especially dturner19 for including me in such a beautiful treasury!

Why We Love Children

Category: ,

A few weeks ago my mother shared a funny e-mail forward with me and I got a kick out of it so I thought I'd share some of my favorite ones.

A kindergarten pupil told his teacher he'd found a cat, but it was dead. "How do you know that the cat was dead?" she asked him. "Because I pissed in its ear and it didn't move," answered the child innocently. "You did WHAT?!!" the teacher exclaimed in surprise. "You know," explained the boy, "I leaned over and went 'Pssst!' and it didn't move."

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her son into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?" The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. "I can't dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room." A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice: "The big sissy."

And last but not least, my very favorite!

One day the first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Little to her class. She came to the part where Chicken Little warns the farmer. She read"...and Chicken Little went up to the farmer and said, "The sky is falling!" The teacher then asked the class, "And what do you think that farmer said?" One little girl raised her hand and said, "I think he said: 'Holy Sh*t! A talking chicken!" The teacher was unable to teach for the next 10 minutes.

A few days ago, a fellow Plugger's United Team member, Unique Commodities, sent me a message letting me know that I had been featured on her blog. Since I was busy most of this weekend doing the whole Christmas party thing I wasn't able to check my e-mails until this evening.

Imagine my delight when I went to her blog and saw that not only had I been featured on her blog, another team member, PTFMGraphicsShop, included my Wood & Copper Necklace in a treasury on Etsy! Can I get a WOOT WOOT?!?

Lets also give a big WOOT WOOT to Unique Commodities for winning tonight's giveaway during the Artisans for Artisans show on Blockhead Radio! She won 12 months of FREE advertising from the King Plugger Lugger himself!

For just $5 a month you can get your very own 125x125 ad listed here!

Also, while chatting tonight in the Artisans for Artisans show on Blockhead Radio, I coined a phrase that immediately "stuck" (yes, the pun was totally intended!)...snuggles, huggles and butt bubbles! Wonder if I can talk Rod into paying me a royalty fee every time he uses that saying on air? LOL!

I've been featured!!!

The fabulous Rose Works Jewelry who runs and is also a fellow member of the Pluggers United Team created a treasury of members items, and she was kind enough to include my Light Rose Swarovski Crystal Butterfly and Flower earrings.

Thanks Rose Works! I'm truly honored.

Update on the furbaby

For those of you who were in the Plugger's United chat over on BlockHead Radio at the start of the show, I apologize for my panicked early departure.

Since the end of September I've been having to bring one of my cats back and forth to the vet on a fairly regular basis. He has what they call idiopathic cystitis - from what I understand it's a lower urinary tract infection with no known origin. He'll go for about a week of behaving normally and then he starts showing signs of a partial blockage. The last time I brought him in he was near death - if a male cat becomes fully blocked they usually have 24-36 hours to live. Thankfully I'm a bit obsessive with my cats so I notice the second something is wrong.

After speaking with a few friends and my mother I decided to take it easy for the rest of last night and get him in to the vet first thing this morning. I had to think about some difficult choices last night, including putting him to sleep. It's not fair to make him go through the rest of his life in that kind of annoying pain. After speaking with the vet today she assured me that we would not have to take this route any time soon. She gave him a shot of antibiotics, and told me to stay home with him today if possible just to make sure he doesn't have any reactions and to put him at ease (and myself as well).

I had to leave work to take him in and at that point I was still in the "I'm going to have to say goodbye to my furbaby" state of mind so I was an emotional basketcase. I spoke to my acting supervisor, explained my fears and was told to take him to the vet and we'd go from there. When I returned to work my acting supervisor told me to take the rest of the day as a vacation day.

I've had an extremely stressful few weeks and I'm mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted.

I was asked before I left chat to let everyone know how the kitty made out so here's your update. I want to thank Rod and the whole crew for their kind thoughts, well wishes and words of encouragement. I am so blessed to have found such a great community!

For now though, I must get some rest.

In addition to the fabulous fashionable treasures that I acquired in the blog post below, I was also surprised with a deliciously yummy bar of soap from The Copper Cauldron! I received a bar of the Honey Pot soap and let me tell you - the fragrance of this soap is divine. Not only does it help to wash the wicked away, it makes me want to be even more wicked than I already am so that I can use it over and over and over!

Here's some pics for you to drool over. They haven't invented scratch & sniff monitors yet... (probably for the best, let's be honest folks!) you'll just have to order a bar of soap from The Copper Cauldron and try (and smell!) it for yourselves!!

Over the past few weeks I've been attending various online trunk shows, listening to Blockhead Radio, and checking out the links that my Twitter followers are posting. Here are a few of my treasures!
